Dear Members,

Your Post and Auxiliary are in great need of reducing  costs.  We currently spend over $9500 each year to distribute newsletters.  We need your support to reduce our operating expenses.  One of the ways we can save hundreds of dollars each month is to send our monthly newsletter to you electronically via e-mail.  Please notify us by  March 1, 2012 whether you wish to receive the newsletter by e-mail free of charge or pay an annual fee of $12.00  to continue receiving the newsletter via US Mail.

Use of e-mail also allows us to communicate with you more often to keep you abreast of events in the Post.  Please contact us at webmaster@VFWPost2503.org and provide your name, street address and e-mail address so that we can add you to our e-mail list.

Thank you for supporting your Post.

Commander Tim Ross

THANK YOU FOR SERVING !!!

CLICK HERE TO THANK OUR MILITARY

Greetings and welcome to our web site. We welcome your feedback.  You may leave your comments in the 'guest book' located at the bottom of each page or contact a Post Officer including myself via the Contact and Information Page.  Please enjoy the site as it conveys to you who we are, what we do, and  how we contribute to our community.

To members and non-members alike, I extend my hand in friendship and  invite you to join us as we make a difference in supporting veterans and contributing to our community.  We have ample opportunity within the Post to use your talents to support a wide array of volunteer efforts.  Your active involvement in the VFW and Post 2503  is needed to ensure that the contributions to veterans , our  community, and the long history and traditions of the Veterans of Foreign Wars continue without interruption.

Our Honor Guard supports many community functions in addition to providing military honors to deceased veterans.

Within our Post, volunteers are the heart of the Post and without them we have an empty building. Without people to volunteer, we cannot survive as a Post or Auxiliary. Without volunteers, we cannot provide service to veterans and their families.   Many volunteers have given decades of their lives to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, to Post 2503 and to their communities and churches.  Please congratulate each volunteer for their contributions.  If you have not volunteered or can increase the amount of time you can give, please consider doing so.   We cannot survive without you.  Please contact Your Commander, Quartermaster or Auxiliary President.

Our Community, our Post and our Honor Guard unit are in much need of your support.  Won't you consider volunteering your time to assist veterans? Please contact:

Commander@VFWPost2503.org ; Honor-Guard@VFWPost2503.org; Quartermaster@vfwpost2503.org; Auxiliary@vfwpost2503.org.

Please join us and make a difference.

Commander Tim Ross

IT IS THE VETERAN WHO SERVES UNDER THE FLAG

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,

AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

DID YOU KNOW?

Vietnam-era Veterans whose service involved duty on or near the perimeters of military bases in Thailand anytime between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975 may have been exposed to herbicides and may qualify for VA benefits.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is  the VETERAN,  not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the  VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the

VETERAN who salutes the Flag.
It is  the VETERAN who serves under the Flag.

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,

AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

Since the Pledge of Allegiance
And
The Lord's Prayer
Are not allowed in most
Public schools anymore
Because the word 'God' is mentioned.....
A high school student wrote the attached NEW School prayer:

"New Pledge of Allegiance"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
      Amen
